Don in his workshopNew Studio on Artists of the Limberlost Tour

Those who have visited the Artists of the Limberlost Open Studio Weekend in the past couple of years will have seen the wildlife and landscape photography of guest artist Don Spring. Locals will know Don as the friendly former owner of the Cavalcade Fotosource store in Huntsville.  Now in retirement, Don is pursuing his passions for both photography and woodworking more seriously, and has joined as a full member of Artists of the Limberlost with his own studio on Bella Lake.

His workshop is well-equipped to transform salvaged logs into rustic live-edge furniture.  Visitors will have a chance to see the tools and equipment used to make his one of a kind tables and benches.  From standing tree to finished product, Don’s woodwork is inherently local.

But wait, there’s more!  Don continues with his nature and wildlife photography and will be showing his work in that medium as well.  Visual artist Peggy Bell, who has a cottage on nearby Oxbow Lake will join him as a guest artist.  Peggy is an accomplished painter and woodblock print artist.  Fibre artist Sandra Clark, who hosted her own studio last year but has since moved to Trenton Ontario, will also be a guest artist at Don’s studio.  Check out Don’s Studio page for more images, including those of his guests. There’s a lot to see at the newest Artists of the Limberlost studio!
