Photo Contest!

Bella Sunset

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Artists of the Limberlost Open Studio Weekend, we’re inviting the public to explore the scenic Limberlost area and to share their own creativity.  The Discover the Limberlost Photo Contest has two subject categories: “Landscape” and “People of the Limberlost”, and two age categories: Youth (16 and under), and Adult.  All images must be shot in the area north of Highway 60, on the lakes and lands accessible from the Limberlost Road.

Opportunities for “Landscape” images abound. The Limberlost Road and the secondary roads branching from it cover stunning terrain with rock cuts, lakes, vistas and wetlands, and the Limberlost Wilderness Reserve has many diverse trails open to the public.

For the “People of the Limberlost” category, picture athletes who train in the area, adults and kids enjoying summer fun, portraits of seniors who have a long history here, or even an artist at work!  Any shot with a person in it is eligible for this category.  There is not a category for wildlife, however, photos with animals can be entered as landscapes.

Internationally known photographer Rob Stimpson of Dwight will select the winning images. The following prizes will be awarded in each category:

Ist prize: The winning image, canvas mounted, courtesy of Foto Source-Cavalcade Colour Lab, Huntsville.

2nd prize: $25. Gift Certificate, redeemable at Foto Source-Cavalcade Colour Lab, Huntsville.

3rd prize: Photo Card for 100 regular size prints at Foto Source-Cavalcade Colour Lab, Huntsville.

Images will be exhibited during the Artists of the Limberlost Open Studio Weekend (August 13 & 14).

Everyone is encouraged to grab a camera or even their phone, and share their own experience of the Limberlost!
