Susan Higgins

Susan in her studio

Susan’s colourful art glass portrays natural themes using the ancient technique of fused glass. Working in her lakeside studio, glasses are cut, composed in layers and melted together in a kiln to create original bowls, platters, free-standing art pieces and window panels.  Crushed glass, fired-on paint and copper foil inclusions are incorporated for different visual effects in Susan’s work.

Susan studied drawing, painting and design at the Ontario College of Art and Design, and has been a career craftsperson for over 3 decades.  In addition to the Artists of the Limberlost Open Studio Weekend, you can visit the studio by calling ahead.  She's also a guest artist at the Apsley Studio Tour, north of Peterborough ON on September 16 and 17, 2017.
