Two Artists of the Limberlost collaborate for HFA Awards

HFA AwardThis year, the Huntsville Festival of the Arts decided to celebrate the convergence of its own 25th anniversary and Canada’s 150th by recognizing the contributions of its dedicated volunteers and sponsors.  Both groups are essential to the continuing success of this cornerstone of culture in Huntsville.

Two Artists of the Limberlost, sculptor Brenda Wainman Goulet and glass artist Susan Higgins were invited to make proposals, and the two decided to offer a joint project, incorporating glass and sculpture together in one work. The prototype was received with favour, a final design was approved, and production on the sculptures began in 2 separate studios.

The sculptures, now known as HFA Awards, incorporate a musical note (representing the Festival) embossed in a glass Northern Lights sky, mounted in an iconic northern landscape sculpture. They were presented at the Festival’s season opening on July 5th,, a concert by The Canadian Brass.

Both Brenda and Susan have created commissioned art for the Huntsville Festival of the Arts in the past, and it was an honour for them to have the opportunity to contribute their talents once again.
