Flowers and floral design have been part of myself since childhood. I grew up with well manicured gardens around me. My grandmother’s life’s work. Naturally I continued along her path and trained as a floral designer in Germany. The world of floral design opened doors into competitions and eventually created a path to Canada. After years in the industry and further achievements in the field I ended up in Muskoka. A world where artists find inspiration in every corner from clay to canvas and so very much in between.
Muskoka forests inspire my work. Ideas for future designs emerge from a hike in the woods. Nature’s artwork comes to life on my canvas. For me the individual blossoms of wildflowers are my “paint” and my paintings are a collage of what I see when nature unfolds before my eyes. Every little delicate petal gets pressed and then with utmost care decoupaged as to keep it preserved for years to come. My pieces bring indoors a vision of our unique landscape or preserving garden and wedding flowers forever.
